Windows 11 laptop shuts down when lid closed
Ask a new question. I have a legion 5 pro laptop with windows 11 and from about a week ago it started to turn off instead of sleep when the lid is closed. I have tried to change the option in 'define power button and password protection' but my laptop shuts down always. Was this reply helpful?
Ask a new question. When I close the lid of my laptop LG Gram17 running Windows 11, the display of the external monitor I am using will go black, exactly 30 seconds after the lid is closed. My "Closing the lid" settings are both set to "Do Nothing" on battery and plugged in. It also occurs on a different monitor. The laptop doesn't appear to go to sleep as any music I'm playing continues to play through the external monitor's speakers. When I "waken" it, and to get the monitor back on, the monitor will then stay on until I finish using it.
Windows 11 laptop shuts down when lid closed
Ask a new question. I want to stop the laptop display turning off when closing the lid and everything moving to the secondary monitor. If I had a single monitor it's easy enough to stop the display turning off when closing the lid through power settings. However, with dual-monitors I cannot see a way to stop the laptop display turning off and just letting me close the lid. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. By doing that it that way it closes the laptop display the primary monitor and moves everything across to the secondary display for me to then enable the extended mode. I need it to stop turning off the primary monitor when I close the laptop lid and literally do nothing and thus keeping the extended mode on. Hi , TheCableGuy

If you'd like to use your Windows 11 laptop with an external monitor , mouse, and keyboard, it's often nice to keep the lid closed. Here's how to close the lid without putting your PC to sleep. Or you can right-click the Start button and select "Settings. In Settings, click the search bar and type "lid," then click the "Change what closing the lid does" result that appears beneath it. A "System Settings" window will open this is part of Control Panel , which is the legacy setup program for Windows. Under "Power and sleep buttons and lid settings," you'll see several options that let you choose what happens when you press the power or sleep buttons on your device.
Ask a new question. With no changes other than the win 11 update for 23H2 my computer now shuts down when the laptop lid is closed for a while. My compute is set to 'sleep' whenever the laptop lid is closed for all power plans. Yet when I close the lid and come back hours later, the computer is shutdown. This didn't happen before the update so I can only assume this update changed something in how the computer handles going to sleep or how that sleep mode is managed when the laptop lid is closed.
