Watched Jan 21 , When this was announced, with Noah Baumbach directing Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig in the lead roles, my response was instantaneous and definitive: "nope, he's terrible for this. Nope, he's terrible for this. Nope she's terrible for this. Also, while Gerwig isn't really any good here, I don't know what she could have done differently with the role as conceived, nor who would have been obviously better. But Baumbach is for sure a problem. I appreciate the attempts to learn and grow and stretch into new filmmaking modes: this is by a huge amount the most stylized thing he's ever made, the most visually-driven and most spectacular.
