A reef below the serene waters creates powerful waves and makes this beach a popular surfing and swimming spot. This beach destination also has tide pools perfect for those who want to observe sea creatures. There is also a nearby park to play lawn games or have a family picnic. If you come during the spring and summer months, a small concession building offers food and beach supplies, making this a convenient beach to post up for the day. If you are planning on bringing your furry friend, keep in mind that dogs are welcome in the park, but not allowed on the sand.

Today, along with surfers, you can find guests from two five-star resorts, the Ritz-Carlton and St. Hotel guests can be shuttled to the beach on electric golf carts or walk down the paved trail to the sand. Along with out-of-town visitors, Salt Creek attracts a mix of families, sunbathers, and surfers. There is also a shuttle from the parking lot. For a dollar, you can ride down to the beach. Salt Creek Beach has about one mile of wide sandy beach and is adjacent to Monarch Bay Beach, a private beach club for residents only. An excellent spot to watch the surfers is next to the lifeguard tower on the point. You can escape the crowd during summer by walking south around Strand Beach. There is a small grass area with picnic benches and a lovely stretch of sandy beach.

Salt Creek Beach Park in Orange County is an exposed beach and reef break that has pretty consitent surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the east northeast. Tends to receive distant groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the south southwest.
