Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling -- where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars. Aided by Nina Rene Russo , a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story. All Rights Reserved. The scene where he, Jake Gyllenhaal is sitting at dinner with the show manager, laying his demands down and being at his all-time creepiest is my most treasured scene. To me, the way in which he portrays himself throughout the entire movie is at a level that I can only describe as brilliant. I couldn't take my eyes off him through the whole movie. When acting is this good, you wonder how these guys prep for this kind of role. Highly recommended!
