If your sticks don't seem to have crystals growing at all after a few days, it may because your sugar solution wasn't oversaturated for whatever reason. It can also happen if some sort of debris getting into the jar. Thank you my five year old great grandson and I are definitely going to do this. And yes, I bet wrapping the jars in foil or towels could help slow the cooling down a bit- great idea!! I'm so glad I saw your blog because I'm going to do more investigating before I begin.
