The first four lines remind me of Icarus flying too close to the sun "we should've been afraid of heights" , or perhaps the gods themselves, feeling they had power over everything - but they behaved recklessly "moths to the flame" - moths tend not to survive an encounter with fire. He describes the relationship in spiritual and sacred terms but it's also co-dependent ultimately not healthy - "We were one and the same You'd hang on every word I'd say". His lover left this apparently perfect union and closed herself off, leaving him broken "If I was whole No one else understands because they don't know the pure love between kindred souls. Lyrics submitted by saturnine. There weren't many comments on this song so I was left alone to figure out an interpretation that suited me. I think this song is about people who sacrifice tomorrow for today and ultimately waste their lives. People who toil away their lives in thankless mind-numbing jobs just trying to get by. People who recklessly chase impossible dreams. People who drift through life waiting for opportunities to present themselves. People who get addicted to drugs, alcohol, or destructive behaviors. People who stay in abusive relationships. People who make deals with the devil because today's fears outweigh tomorrow's salvation. Every day they work a little, and suffer a little, and hope a little, but nothing every really changes.
I think the spoken part fits perfectly
We gather here, we line up, weepin' in a sunlit room And if I'm on fire, you'll be made of ashes, too Even on my worst day, did I deserve, babe All the hell you gave me? I didn't have it in myself to go with grace And you're the hero flying around, saving face And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayed Look at how my tears ricochet. We gather stones, never knowing what they'll mean Some to throw, some to make a diamond ring You know I didn't want to have to haunt you But what a ghostly scene You wear the same jewels that I gave you As you bury me. I didn't have it in myself to go with grace 'Cause when I'd fight, you used to tell me I was brave And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake?
She produced the song with Jack Antonoff and Joe Alwyn. The production incorporates choir -inflected layered vocals, mellow synths , and shuddering drums, bringing forth a soundscape that critics described as haunting and sorrowful. Its lyrics are a narration by the ghost of a dead woman, which finds its murderer, who she once loved dearly, at its own funeral. Critics received "My Tears Ricochet" with rave reviews, who praised the concept, imagery, emotion, vocals and production. Upon release, the song peaked at number 16 on the US Billboard Hot and in the top 15 of the singles charts in Australia, Canada, Malaysia and Singapore.

Though Ricochet Rabbit aired for a third season on The Peter Potamus Show, only repeats from its first two seasons were shown, as no new episodes were produced. The fastest lawman in the West, Sheriff "ping ping ping" Ricochet Rabbit and his deputy Droop-a-long Coyote kept the peace in the small town of Hoop-n-Holler. Ricochet got his name from his habit of bouncing off objects while chasing bad guys. With the speed to outrun bullets, Ricochet created a gale of wind that pulled everything after him when he took off at top speed. Not relying on speed alone to round up the rustlers and bring down the bandits, Ricochet's trick bullets had the quality of being able to circle around or track his target - or to stop mid-air in front of something, then pop open and produce whatever object was needed to finish the job; like a pin to puncture a hot air balloon, a cork to plug a robber's gun or a mallet to strike his opponent on the head. Obviously using a different brand of bullet, most of Droop-a-long's projectiles struggled to exit his gun, then just dropped to the ground. Ricochet Rabbit is a super fast white rabbit and the sheriff of Hoop-n-Holler.
