I stopped in at the Nordstrom Rack in Brentwood this morning on its opening day. The scene that greeted me was utter mayhem. The crowd began forming outside the store well before 9 a. The winner was Hallie James of Spanish Lake. I pulled into the packed parking lot a little later around 10 a. It took me about 10 minutes to battle for a spot as other drivers and I stalked shoppers with blue Rack shopping bags heading to their cars. Then when I walked in, I saw a line that wrapped around the store and through various aisles that I counted to be at least people long. This was the check-out line.
