The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail. Good idea to have sturdy boots, parts are quite exposed. Easy to follow track. Part of the trail was very over grown and I gave up. Phenomenal views and very easy to follow path. I left early in the morning before the wind picked up and only saw people on my way down.
