Mestizo mexican restaurant reviews
London is short on Mexican restaurants which deliver the real thing, rather than the dreadful Tex-Mex experience.
One of the most traditional, authentic Mexican restaurants in London, the week was designed by Mestizio to showcase the diversity and depth of Mexican food by curating a regionally inspired menu that took guests on a culinary journey around Mexico. For this purpose, the menu included such dishes as pescadillas from Guerrero, to a warming Pollo con Mole from the highlands of Puebla, to the Mexican lamb stews from Birria. Gastronomic Week at Mestizo is long over, but it was still a good opportunity to experience one of the most authentic Mexican dining experiences one can get in London. Mestizo first opened its doors in , and has long been one of the leading ambassadors of Mexican food in London, often championing this diverse cuisine through special gastronomic events such as the Gastronomic Week seen last month and other events organised in conjunction with the Mexican Embassy. These were excellent and tasted rather special.

Halal Mexican restaurants are not the easiest to come by. One of the original Mexican restaurants in London to start catering halal options ought to be Mestizo Restaurant in Euston. It was our very first restaurant visit coming out of the lockdown when restaurants were finally allowed to reopen for table service. Perhaps the excitement of finally dining out again played a part but we were hugely impressed with the food at Mestizo. It was a great insight into Mexican cuisine and we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the meal. Chicken, beef, and selective lamb dishes are halal at Mestizo, but please double-check with the staff as suppliers may change. Pork and alcohol are served at the restaurant. After ordering, we were given some complimentary tortilla chips, sprinkled with sea salt and accompanied by salsa verde. They were a great nibble and munch while we waited for the food to arrive. First up, we had the Filete Tampiquena, which consists of grilled beef fillet, chicken enchilada, guacamole, rajas con crema, and garnished with queso fresco ranchero. The beef fillet steak was the main star of the dish. Nicely seared, well-seasoned, and tender to bite, it definitely hit the spot. Personally, I particularly enjoyed the rajas con crema, i.
Both dishes are served with refried beans, rice and homemade tortillas which are perfect for dredging up the mole sauces.
I had my first little peek at Mestizo last year. Just a cocktail and some nibbles but it was enough to give an indication that this was a spot to linger over and enjoy. Its atmosphere is of dark wood charm but the impressive bar hints at fun times to be had. This establishment has a collection of Tequilas over at last count enough to make any London-based Mexican quite home-sick. The restaurant has a cult following amongst the local Brits and, evidently, expat Mexicans. It already has the vote of those in the know.
Cuisines: Mexican. Is this your restaurant? Click to add your description here. They don't understand, listen to or learn service dog rights. On our second visit because El Patron was closed , they asked for my registration for my incredibly well trained, behaved and legit service dog. How our dogs behave is their certification according to the law. This needs to be understood and used both for real service dogs and against fakes. Not a single one of us with a legit service dog would allow our animal to bring us even more unwanted attention. El Patron, right down the road is very friendly and delicious! Ordered fish and chips basket.

I love Mexican food, and yet this is the first time in years I've come away from a Mexican restaurant thinking "wow! The food here is excellent, tasting The restaurant looked great too, however it is not that big which caused a few issues: - Firstly, you should tell customers when they first sit down if you need the table back within 2 hours rather than waiting till the end and then repeatedly pestering them in the final 15 minutes. Standing around awkwardly with half a bottle of wine whilst you wait for space to be cleared was not great. We'd have stayed for a cocktail if it wasn't for that last annoyance, but regardless, this is a very good restaurant and I'd return for the quality of the food alone. Great food, if not a bit pricey, but authentic Mexican food is at a premium in London : Mateo was a friendly server and recommended some great mezcal. Tacos were tasty and were so much better than any of the counter service burrito places around

Like all of the best Mexican restaurants in the UK, inside the scarlet space is flamboyantly decorated and straddles the fine line between kitsch and tacky. They were a great nibble and munch while we waited for the food to arrive. TLE favourite London Stock launches private dining room. Again the filling was moist and delicious, offering up a good contrast of sweetness from the tomatoes and acidity from the capers. The cheese and potato ones were certainly our favourites. It was the perfect way to end an extremely enjoyable meal. Perhaps the excitement of finally dining out again played a part but we were hugely impressed with the food at Mestizo. The lamb boasted a good flavour and was tender, although not tender enough to fall of the bone. After ordering, we were given some complimentary tortilla chips, sprinkled with sea salt and accompanied by salsa verde. Mestizo — Tamales. I am sure it will turn out to be the first of many. The lamb barbacoa was truly a stunner in its own right and I could honestly just eat it all day long. Again a lovely authentic taste of Mexico.
The origin of the bandeja paisa was influenced by several different cultures that inhabited Colombia throughout the centuries, including the indigenous peoples of Colombia, as well as colonial Spaniards and Africans.
Mestizo — Empanadas de cazon. Every little component here gives a little lift of flavours, especially the piquant salsa verde, and added more layers of texture to the lamb. This dessert was excellent. Sign me up for the newsletter! Several of them are Mexican and all of them can steer you through what will likely be an unfamiliar menu. Looking for more halal-friendly Mexican food spots in London? This was exactly how I imagined authentic, classical Mexican food to be. Apart from the usual soft drinks, Mestizo offers a couple of non-alcoholic drinks on its extensive drinks menu as well. Notify me of follow-up comments by email.
