Boards Left 4 Dead Are the infected intelligent or just dumb old Zombies? Yaboy 14 years ago 2. IDK, I always took that quote to mean that since the infected-apocalypse society's rules no longer apply, if someone pisses you off That being said, seeing as they can't open doors, I'm voting for dumb, but the specials can communicate the coordination seems to imply this The fact that boomer bile attracts the horde points to a more instinctual thing, like pheromones that control ants and other animals. Players have also discovered a way to do splitscreen co-op with the PC version. Due to control issues and the likelihood of players using a headset, the L4d zombies version of Left 4 Dead omits the quick phrases feature, l4d zombies.
While the main obstacle that players will need to overcome in both Left 4 Dead games is the incredibly fast and dangerous zombies, there are also a few slightly more powerful enemies who they will similarly need to deal with, and these are known as the Special Infected. These zombies have mutated in unique ways to grant them a special ability that can prove to be incredibly dangerous if they manage to use it on a survivor, especially if they're separated from the rest of the team. Luckily, Special Infected zombies will let out some sort of noise to signify that they're nearby, but these are often terrifying screeches or unnerving howls that are guaranteed to send a chill down the spine of even the most seasoned horror veterans. All of these unique enemies are scary in their own ways, but there are several that really take the cake for being utterly horrifying, and it's these enemies that this list is going to focus on today. The Smoker's unique ability is its absurdly long tongue, which it can use to drag in survivors from a distance, and while this might not seem to be much of an issue at first, it's when this enemy appears over a gap or near a car alarm where it becomes a real threat. Smoker can easily pull the player into a noise to alert the horde , and can even drag them over a cliff if they're set up in the perfect position, and while their constant coughing does give away their position, it's also much more subdued and harder to catch compared to the other Special Infected.
When Valve released Left 4 Dead 2 , the company added several new features to the game. Perhaps one of the most significant was the increased number of boss zombies that would seek to bring down the new cast of survivors. Left 4 Dead 2 bosses — those special infected zombies players will come across — include tweaked versions of those five special infected zombies found in the original game, but in addition to these Valve also created three new bosses for the survivors to deal with, with each of the new special infected displaying original mutations and abilities. This article provides a brief guide to each of the special infected which Valve introduced into Left 4 Dead 2 and The Passing campaign. While the original — if slightly altered in appearance — Boomer reappears in Left 4 Dead 2, Valve also introduced the Boomette. The Boomette is, in essence, the female equivalent of the Boomer and so to all intents and purposes possesses the same attributes as the male Boomer. The Boomette emits a higher-pitched gurgling noise than the male and sounds more swine-like. Primary attacks from Boomettes are the same as those from Boomers — a jet of bile which temporarily blinds Survivors, while also attracting a horde of common infected.

They have the same general weaknesses as their common brethren, but are slightly more resistant to damage than them. Each one has unique properties that can impede the Survivors ' progress. The L4D2 Survivors often comment on the Uncommon Infected, with the exception of the Worker Infected, noting their unusual attire and abilities. Each Uncommon Infected have reflective clothing, helping differentiate them from the regular Common Infected:. These reflective areas can be easily seen by turning your flashlight on. Much of the same tactics for Common Infected will apply to most of the Uncommon Infected, as the Director will control them in the same way as normal Common Infected. However, Uncommon Infected benefit off increased health the exception to this is the Riot Infected, due to their damage immunity from the front. Their attire and appearance also give them extra advantages over their common brethren. Additionally, certain Uncommon Infected carry valuable supplies that the Survivors could make use of. Strategically choosing when to shoot at them may be necessary to ensure the supplies are not dropped out of reach.
