For years, one could listen to The Alex Jones Show and chuckle about how he's out of his mind, and thank your preferred deity that he's so far from being relevant that he's basically screaming into the void. As the world grew more troubling, the lies that Jones peddled on his show and website began to influence people with legitimate power. Dan and Jordan started Knowledge Fight in the belief that fighting against the deeply flawed philosophies of Alex Jones through debate is a fool's errand. They believe that mocking and documenting are far more powerful tools, and as such, that's what the podcast aims to do. A study published Tuesday provides a newly-developed way to measure whether an AI model contains potentially hazardous knowledge, along with a technique for removing the knowledge from an AI system while leaving the rest of the model relatively intact. Together, the findings could help prevent AI models from being used to carry out cyberattacks and deploy bioweapons. The study was conducted by researchers from Scale AI, an AI training data provider, and the Center for AI Safety, a nonprofit, along with a consortium of more than 20 experts in biosecurity, chemical weapons, and cybersecurity. The subject matter experts generated a set of questions that, taken together, could assess whether an AI model can assist in efforts to create and deploy weapons of mass destruction. As the AI industry continues to make rapid progress , safety is top of mind for world leaders. However, the techniques that AI companies currently use to control the outputs of their systems are easy to circumvent. And the tests used to assess whether an AI model could be dangerous are expensive and time-consuming. The researchers at Scale AI and the Center for AI Safety began by asking experts in biosecurity, chemical weapons, and cybersecurity to catalog the different ways in which harms could arise in their area of expertise.

The vast majority of Philippine nationals would fight to defend their country, according to a poll conducted as China's territorial challenge to the U. Overall, 77 percent of respondents answered "Yes" when asked if they were ready to fight in a hypothetical "conflict between the Philippines and a foreign enemy," according to pollsters from independent consulting firm OCTA Research. The survey was released Sunday on the heels of last week's escalation of tensions in the Beijing-claimed South China Sea. For the second time in three months , the China Coast Guard deployed water cannons while aggressively moving to block a Philippine convoy bearing supplies and troops to a military outpost at Second Thomas Shoal. One supply boat turned back after a water cannon damaged it and injured four crew members. Since last year, the Philippines has been publicizing China's actions within the Southeast Asian country's internationally recognized mile exclusive economic zone EEZ. Broken down by age, the OCTA Research poll showed 74 percent of 18 to year-olds would fight for their country. That's within the margin of error of the 77 percent who said the same among the 35 to 44 and to year-old demographics. City dwellers 80 percent were more likely to say they'd fight for their country than people living in rural areas 73 percent.
