The Kershaw Gardens parklands is a spacious and picturesque parkland that stretches for one kilometre along the Bruce Highway, providing a subtropical oasis right in the heart of town. The parklands are divided into three precincts; the Northern Precinct, Central Precinct and Southern Precinct, with wide open spaces and winding footpaths throughout. Dogs are welcome at Kershaw Gardens but must be on a leash at all times, except within the off leash agility park. There is ample parking available at Kershaw Gardens, with car parks at each entrance to the precincts. The Kershaw Gardens Free Campground is for self-contained vehicles only as there are no amenities on site. Right across the road from the campground is a shopping centre, making it easy to restock your supplies. Kershaw Gardens itself is a lovely place to explore with walking tracks, an epic playground and splash park for the kids, plus beautiful gardens. The 50 hectare parkland has been built on top of an old landfill site in the suburb of Park Avenue. Since , the Gardens has undertaken a number of significant changes, but none more so than the redevelopment of the Central Precinct which was finalised in mid Built for families, parties, small events and outdoor activities, the central section of the Kershaw Gardens is a must do. Water Play Area Alongside the playground, you can get your toes wet in a mm deep meandering water course designed to represent the flow of water through the Fitzroy River, from Riverslea out to the sea. It also comes complete with its very own barrage! There are plenty of vantage points around the water play area to watch the kids from.
