I wanted to make a hyllis in english, due to traffic from Apartment Therapy after this Ikea hack appeared there.

Cut each post in half to get two Install straight metal braces to the top and bottom posts to fix them together. Other than metal brackets, you can also use off-cuts from the posts for the height extension to join them together. Ucn shared this joining method over at Instructables. A few well placed screws should keep the pieces together. You can also apply wood glue to the pieces before joining them for a stronger fix. I wanted to add more storage in my small bedroom and decided to use the space around and over my bed. I liked the symmetry of two storage units flanking my bed. And set them at right and left of the bed. In France I could not find proper wood stock is running low in France so I had to be creative. I ended up using what we call: kraaldelen tongue and groove board? In fact you just see the side posts which I used as front trim and the 4 shelving posts for the top shelf. The kraaldelen is a temporary solution and is not screwed in. I will later swap them out for permanent wood planks — when stocks return — and will screwed them in for more stability. Curious… What size that will be fit??
