There is the topic about Lufthansa Group, but because I think that Aviation in Germany is more than only Lufthansa Group, I was thinking to start a new topic. The aviation market in Germany struggles a bit. It recovered slower from covid than in other countries in Europe. I think this has multiple reasons. One of the reasons is that people in Germany use more trains for domestic travel than before covid. Another reason is, that airport costs and other connected costs are higher in Germany than in other countries, and because there is a shortage of aircrafts at the moment, airlines decide to use them in other countries. I think that one other reason is that there is limited airline supply, because flight permissions are limited in Germany. Less options for Airlines result in higher prices, and so less people fly. I think on the one hand this is a little bit understandable, but in some ways it could be good to allow more flight permissions. One example: Emirates has been trying for a long time to get approval for fights to Berlin and Stuttgart, but is not allowed to do this at the moment. Personally, I think that they should allow Emirates to fly to Berlin, because it would help the economy of the former East Germany to catch up with the economy of the former West Germany.
