In our Polygons lesson plan, students are introduced to polygons. Students learn to define, identify, and use different types of polygons and polygons of different sizes. Our Polygons lesson plan explores all things polygon and prepares students to define polygons, identify the different types, and correctly name various-sized polygons. Students are asked to use their creativity to create a pneumonic device for various polygons. A hands-on activity demonstrates how a new shape is created by connecting the sides of polygons, as well as enables students to practice identifying the figures inside of the created shape. Students are also asked to design a floor plan using three different polygons, further utilizing their creativity and showing them practical applications of these concepts. At the end of the lesson, students will be able to define polygons, identify the different types, and correctly name various-sized polygons.
