Cornstarch to flatten paint
I was watching a TV program the other day that said if you want paint to have a dead flat kazekage statues mix in a little corn starch. I tried it on my acrylic cornstarch to flatten paint and lo and behold the paint was flat. You must dissolve the corn starch in a little water acrylic paint then mix it in with the regular acrylic.

Also if I remember correctly you will need a "high shear" mixing blade to get the flatteners to disperse. It will certainly kill one extra step and make things a bit simpler.
