As seen in One Piece 's most recent episodes, Monkey D. Luffy 's Gear 5 form has drastically altered the landscape of the Grand Line, officially elevating the Straw Hat Pirate to the same level as the other Emperors of the Sea. However, prior to his groundbreaking transformation, Luffy was seconds away from defeat. The World Government — and, more specifically, CP0 — intervened in his clash against Kaido, distracting the series' protagonist and thereby allowing his opponent to land a devastating blow. Thankfully, as Luffy lay on the brink of death, an unexpected figure arrived to herald the Awakening of his Devil Fruit: Zunesha. Excluding the mysterious shadows seen in the Thriller Bark Arc, Zunesha is the largest creature to appear in One Piece. The ancient elephant stands over 20 miles tall and has lived for over years, simultaneously making it the oldest living being in the franchise as well.

The Zou arc had been built up for literal years in One Piece, first being mention at the beginning of Dressrosa. After the finale of the Dressrosa arc we soon began our story on Zou. And it was commented by Luffy that it was like a race of Choppers. The arc starts off rather slow, with a lot of it being to do with what has happened to the crew members that were already there. He then releases a gas that is releavled to have been previously created by Caesar Clown, who is still in captivity. The Straw Hats release him to help with the gas and him and Chopper save everyone. In Zou they really dragged the ass out of where Sanji was. But once that Sanji stuff starts to wrap up is when we start getting to the greatness of Zou. The last couple of chapters sky rocketed this arc to one of the best in the entire series. We begin to learn end-game level stuff, for example more clues to where Raftel is, along with the reintroduction of some fan favourite characters such as Marko the Phoenix. In summary, Zou was great. Jack was badass, Zunisha was better.

Despite Pedro's instance that they return to Zou to drop Carrot off, Carrot insists she will not get in the way.

Zou covers episodes — , making it a very short arc at only 29 episodes. I typically prefer the shorter arcs in One Piece because they tell the story they set out to tell without dragging on for too long. But, I do think Zou might be a bit too short. Zou is basically just the arc that sets up both the Whole Cake Island and Wano arcs. But, even Punk Hazard had its own, fairly self-contained, storyline. Unfortunately, all we actually get from the arc is the introduction of the Mink tribe and the Beast Pirates. Sure, things happen in Zou and we do get to see a few locations within the country.
