Borough has been known for its food markets since as far back as the 11th century. First the stallholders were trading on old London Bridge, but then in the 13th century they were moved to what became Borough High Street, arabica bar & kitchen. A market has been here ever since.

For me to delay a visit to a newly opened Middle Eastern restaurant for much longer than it takes to glance over the online menu, would mean committing nothing less than sacrilege. And so — on only their second day of trade after a soft-launch period — I arrive in the heat of the evening expectant and hungry and with a Persian in tow for good measure. The Arabica brand began life on this very ground over 14 years ago, selling a modest range of home-cooked mezze wares amongst what was then just a handful of other merchants. Since then, it has expanded into trading at several London market locations, grown an impressive online offering and boasts a Selfridges concession.

Our fish is from sustainable stock. We source locally and seasonally where we can and where it makes sense. Our more exotic ingredients come from a handful of specialist artisans across the east mediterranean. We work hard and ambitiously on our recipes to create a colourful collection of dishes for you to feast on at our restaurants, counters and stalls. Creatively led by founder James, the team experiment regularly in our home kitchens as well as our professional kitchens with new ingredients and ideas that create vibrancy in our menus.
