The combo features two channels, 60 watts of all tube power, and way more gain that I know what to do with thanks to five 12AX7 preamp tubes and two 6L6 power tubes. The combo comes with a couple of surprises as well. In exchange for the lost valves, Peavey has managed to shove in both spring reverb and their MSDI mic and cab-simulated direct output, both missing from the watt head. Peavey has produced a combo genuinely worthy of the badge. The clean channel also features a crunch switch which adds a fair amount of gain, great for punk or classic metal rhythms. There is a reason so many metal bands rely on s to achieve their balls-to-the-wall high-gain sound. I like to think I play some pretty heavy riffs but I have never found a reason to turn the gain up past 6.

Jesus, i just checked on reverb The stock speaker is crappy, so replace that or run it through a bigger cab ideal with good speakers. I've played at least a dozen of the regular and plus models at different times and the need for a boost seemed to be there about half the time and other times not. Sign me up. Weighing in at over 60 pounds, I have more than a few dents in my car from transporting the combo to and from gigs.
