The first Breath of the Wild introduced Calamity Ganon, a version of Ganon that seemed to have completely succumbed to Malice and become an inhuman, demonic creature. Despite that, new evidence from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 's trailer at E3 suggests Ganondorf's role in the upcoming game may be very different from past incarnations. Here's the evidence that Ganondorf may be going in a new direction, and some of the possibilities raised by fans in light of the information from E3 Calamity Ganon was one of the most monstrous incarnations of The Legend of Zelda 's classic villain so far. When the Breath of the Wild 2 reveal trailer dropped in , however, fans were quick to notice hints that Ganon's Gerudo form Ganondorf could be making a return. The Breath of the Wild 2 trailer showed a withered corpse beneath Hyrule Castle. The body resembled a long-dead, mummified version of the Ganondorf seen in previous games, and eagle-eyed fans noticed a necklace with a Gerudo symbol hanging from the corpse when it reanimated. Combined with Ganondorf's red hair, the Gerudo king's return seemed like a no-brainer. The first trailer also left fans with some big questions, however. In a series of flashing images, players saw the mummified corpse being gripped by a mysterious hand made from a green, glowing light and bound by metal bracelets. They also saw Link's hand glow with a similar energy, the mysterious green hand from before grab Link's arm , and a silhouette of a scene playing out against a castle wall.

Although they go unnamed throughout The Legend of Zelda seriesGanon has several swords that he often uses in addition to his Trident.

It hardly needed the help, but The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 's rumor mill is operating at maximum capacity now thanks to the new trailer that Nintendo revealed at E3 Fans rejoiced, as it gave them precious glances at everything that they were waiting to see. The new trailer for Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 give peeks at everything from combat adjustments, new settings, and the direction of the plot. Fans are already eagerly speculating on what each frame of the new trailer means, and some theories have already cropped up as favorites. One theory that reigns supreme above most others is arguably the most outlandish. Some fans believe Ganondorf is the hero of Breath of the Wild 2, not Link.

Ganondorf was born a member of the Gerudo ; as the only male member to be born in a hundred years, Ganondorf is made either the King of the Gerudo or the Guardian of the Desert, depending on the game. Gifted with powerful magic, Ganondorf often seeks the omnipotent Triforce to grant his wish of conquering the entire world. The Triforce of Power that Ganondorf usually holds grants him near-immortality; the only weapons that can truly defeat him are the Triforce itself, the Master Sword , the Silver Arrows , the Four Sword , and the Light Arrows. In addition to granting him power, the Triforce of Power allows Ganondorf to transform into a beast form, Ganon, reminiscent of a pig or hog. During events of the ending of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time , the timeline of The Legend of Zelda series was severed into three separate timelines. Thus the Ganondorf from Ocarina of Time had three different future incarnations, each eventually meeting their end at the hands of different Links at some point. While most incarnations of Ganondorf are the same individual, it was explained in Hyrule Historia that the Ganondorf who appeared in Four Swords Adventures was the reincarnation of the one that appeared in Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time. He is commonly voiced by Takashi Nagasako. Spoiler warning : Plot or ending details follow.

Ganon himself had drawn the Hero of Light into Hyrule, but he meets his hubris when he is destroyed again due to a combination of the Golden Sword and the Silver Arrows , both wielded by the Hero of Light. Some fans took the evidence to mean that Ganon is actually the secret hero of Breath of the Wild. Calamity Ganon No. This form resembled a gigantic, Malice and Sheikah technology-fused version of his human form, albeit with a slightly piggish snout. This included the Gerudo, with Ganondorf as their king, swearing fealty to the King of Hyrule. And things get only more confusing from there. It is not over! Midna, transforming into an enormous Twilit arachnoid, attacks Ganondorf, with the ensuing battle destroying the castle. When they refused to hand them over, he placed a death curse upon the Great Deku Tree and Lord Jabu-Jabu , and blocked off Dodongo's Cavern with a gigantic boulder. Link confronting Calamity Ganon from Breath of the Wild. For instance, some fans believe that the recurring theme of music played in reverse, as well as the emphasis on exploring Hyrule's ancient past, suggest that Breath of the Wild 2 will involve time travel.

You witness a king's revival

It should be noted that his sword charges are reminiscent of the final fight in Twilight Princess. He went to Hyrule Castle with a Gerudo delegation to pledge allegiance to King Rauru , a necessary humiliation in an attempt to gain his trust and become closer to the Royal Family. In A Link to the Past , he actually receives a few lines and some backstory, but in Ocarina of Time , Ganon is back to being a mute monster…even though he talked when he was Ganondorf. He is a pure embodiment of the ancient evil that is reborn time and time again During the Blood Moon previously killed monsters are resurrected. Once Ganondorf gained the Triforce of Power, both his physical and mystical abilities were augmented by the essence of the Goddess Din to god-like proportions - his power unrivaled by any mortal, for he ceased to be mortal in that moment. But when does Ganondorf actually transform into Ganon? And when the moon climbed into the dark of night, a frigid gale pierced our homes. There it festers, building its strength for the moment it will unleash its blight upon the land once again. He is reborn in Four Swords Adventures , where, although he is still a Gerudo, he is not the king. Ganon is the possessor of the Triforce of Power , imbued with the essence of the Goddess Din.
