The unwanted signal is received with both antennas resulting in different phases. The QRM Eliminator now allows to adjust the phase angle as well as amplification in a way to cancel out the unwanted signal before it reaches the receiver front end!

I found out that the antenna for receiving QRM, the auxiliary or secondary antenna, holds the key to optimum performance of the QRM eliminator. A single wire along a shelf in your shack is, for what I tested, not enough. There is one specific antenna that does an amazing job. First of all I need to explain about my antenna setup. My main antenna was a 13m 31 ft tall vertical. This antenna setup allows me to work on all HF bands. The downside… it picks up loads of man-made noise. The QRM eliminator manual says that a single wire in your shack can do the job. That being said, I ran a 4 meter 17 ft wire across the edge of the ceiling as an auxiliary antenna. It could perform better than this. The QRM eliminator enables you to adjust the signal levels on both the main and aux antenna. When at the same level, the signal from the aux antenna will cancel out the signal from the main antenna as you adjust the phase angle. Presuming that bringing the aux antenne outside the shack, would increase its signal level. The one antenna available outside is a dipole for 6 meter band, which sits at 10 meters 33 ft above the ground.
I initually couldnt get the noise antenna to pick up enough noise but I used my cobweb antenna as a M rx only antenna about s5 noise on this antenna and I was able to phase the noise level to s1.

If you see figures regarding solar activity, you could conclude that we are very close to the start of a new solar cycle. That means within a few years my beloved 10 meter band will open up again for DX. On 10m even up to S9. I wanted to tackle this QRM without my neighbor having to shut down his solar panels. By coincidence I ran into a video shared by an old radio friend in Switzerland. He demonstrated a QRM Eliminator. I always thought that these devices were not very effective, but I was impressed by how he just turned the QRM away. Good to know is my radio setup. Antennas are a 13m tall vertical with a CG remote autotuner for m to 10 m and a horizontal dipole for 6m band.

IMHO I find ridiculous to buy expensive transceivers with DNR and other amenities that do not have such a simple circuit and three additional knobs! The QRM canceller now allows adjustment of the phase angle and amplification to cancel unwanted signals before they reach the receiver front end! To get the best out of a QRM eliminator over a large part of HF, the Miniwhip is one of the best options for an auxiliary antenna. Does not degrade the signal you want. I have a constant s9 noise floor on M and for some reason on 30M. But its performance on 30 meter to meter band was still not great. First the KIT arrived from Russia well within the expected delivery time. No obscenities, discriminatory, abusive, or other content not suitable in public or for younger readers. I had to figure out what antenna performs better over a much larger bandwith, than a fixed length whip?

Do not connect the instrument to the PA output under any circumstances! I am still experimenting but the trick with this unit is getting the noise antenna to pickup a similar amount of noise as the main antenna. It's a conflict of interest for manufacturers or their employees to review their own products. Maybe not as nice as the newest transceivers, surely it is "useful to have". It is based on a completely innovative concept and cannot be compared with normal "silencer" performance. I could double the length of the whip to cover the longer wavelengths, but that would negatively affect the shorter wavelengths bands To get maximum performance on all HF bands, I needed to: Increase the overall signal level from the aux antenna. That sounds like…. I purchased this unit from ebay and it arrived in very quick time.
