Having prescriptions filled at the WAMC Outpatient Pharmacy is convenient and provides a cost savings to beneficiaries. The pharmacy fills all prescriptions without a co-payment and medications are provided at no cost to beneficiaries. The WAMC formulary is extensive and carries most medications. If patients do see an off-post specialty provider and receive a prescription for a medication not on the formulary, there are processes in place to allow patients to get these medications from the pharmacy, also without a copayment. Patients may also have prescriptions filled off post transferred to the WAMC pharmacy as long as the medication is formulary, not expired, and has refills available. Patients with hard copy prescriptions from off-post providers have three options to have these prescriptions filled at WAMC: 1 Patients may drop the prescriptions off at the main WAMC outpatient pharmacy drop box, 2 patients may drop prescriptions off at the PX pharmacy drop box, or 3 patients may go to the PX or WAMC main outpatient pharmacy and take a number to have the prescription processed right away. If patients drop the hard copy paper prescriptions into the drop box, there is a hour turn around.
