Spanning three towns and two council areas, Wild Mersey offers nearly km of singletrack in what amounts to three interconnected trail networks. You can ride from the Spirit of Tasmania literally on separated paths to the trail network at Latrobe, in the Warrawee Forest, over the Mersey River to Railton, and onto Sheffield almost entirely on singletrack. Railton has become the de facto trailhead of Wild Mersey, with singletrack running out of both sides of town, and it feels a little like Derby did in the early days. Railton has access to the Green Teleport climb and Green Hornet. The massive asphalt pump track which is ideal for warm-up or as a family ride, is also right in town. The Raptor Ridge adventure trail provides 10km of unparalleled riding on the ridgeline with views and single-track challenges to please the senses.

There are fine views across the Mersey Estuary and lots of wading birds to look out for here. Near here you'll also pass the splendidly positioned Hale Lighthouse. The lighthouse dates back to and sits just to the south of the interesting village of Hale. Speke Hall at the end of the route has a lovely National Trust cafe where you can refresh yourself. You can enjoy a cream tea here in the outdoor seating area in the attractive courtyard if the weather is fine. Near Hale Head you could take a slight detour from the path to visit Hale village and the Childe of Hale public house. The pub is named after John Middleton, a local giant, born in the village in the 16th century.
