A recon party makes the initial journey to the planet surface, where they encounter and join forces with nomadic survivors of the Purge who have remained on Mandalore. Together, the newly united Mandalorians journey to the ruined site of the Great Forge and discover it is now home to an Imperial facility, out of which Moff Gideon operates. It is in this facility that the Mandalorians come into conflict with Gideon's new wave of Stormtroopers, equipped with jetpacks, beskar armor, and modeled after the Mandalorian Imperial Super Commandos who fought for the Empire in the Galactic Civil War. Moff Gideon himself also confronts the Mandalorians, wearing upgraded Dark Trooper armor, made from beskar alloy.
