Not only were shipping delays and inventory issues an absolute nightmare, there were months where nothing was open. And a big, expensive home decor one like this takes a LOT of internal deliberating, research and online window shopping. Personally I like to start my furniture shopping by scouring Pinterest and Instagram. And saving inspirational photos of rooms and pieces that I like. And then after narrowing it down I start shopping — online first to save time. Then in person if possible because I need to see and touch and sit on. For a piece of furniture like a desk or dining room table or nightstands, I can go without seeing the item in person. Another thing I also knew was that I wanted to make an investment in this piece of furniture, my first BIG read: expensive purchase of my adult apartment. I quickly ruled a couple out because they were a little too expensive for me. And ruled out a few more because they were a little too big for my space. Once I narrowed it down it was time to visit a few stores, so that I could actually sit on the couches. And get swatches to pick a color and fabric.
