Waddle Dees are species native to Planet Popstar. Many, but not all, wadle dee, Waddle Dees loyally serve King Dededethe self-proclaimed ruler of Dream Land, wadle dee, and he often involves them in his schemes. As an enemy, they are both the most basic and most common regular enemy, and a staple of the Kirby serieswith Waddle Dee or some variant thereof appearing in every game since the first wadle dee Kirby title, Kirby's Dream Land. Waddle Dees are notable for their docile, carefree nature, even as foes, mostly walking around aimlessly and never going too far out of their way to attack.
They make various appearances in the Super Smash Bros. Many of the Waddle Dees are also affiliated with King Dedede , and are the most common regular enemy in the Kirby series. Waddle Dees first appeared in Kirby's Dream Land and started appearing in just about every game after that. They have no true form of attacking: they just walk around and sometimes leap into the air. However, they damage Kirby on contact.

Waddle Dees are a species of very peaceful creatures that are a common sight in Dream Land , in the wider Popstar region, and on many other planets. Named for their waddling gait, Waddle Dees are about the same size as Kirby , and have a slightly pear-shaped body with orange-red skin, fingerless stubs for arms, and two feet which are typically yellow, but may also be tan or a light orange. Their faces are tan in color and consist of two dark brown eyes, two cheek blushes, and no mouth or nose though Waddle Dees are known to speak and eat despite lacking mouths. While most Waddle Dees are orange or red, there also are green, yellow, blue , or golden Waddle Dees to be found. Overall, Waddle Dees are depicted as peaceful denizens of Dream Land that seldom fight actively. Instead, they usually just waddle around in stages and leap in the air occasionally, neither paying attention to, nor actively attacking Kirby. While they are generally not much of a threat, they usually damage Kirby if they run into him or if he touches them. Many, but not all Waddle Dees seem to have affiliated themselves with King Dedede , and those that have usually show a great amount of respect and loyalty towards their leader, even if they sometimes acknowledge his character flaws. King Dedede often employs them as servants, soldiers, and guards, giving the latter of these spears to use to varying degrees of effectiveness. Among the most loyal of these is Bandana Waddle Dee , named after his blue bandana, who also happens to be friends with Kirby.

Bandana Waddle Dee , originally known as Waddle Dee prior to Kirby: Triple Deluxe , is a recurring deuteragonist and major supporting character in the Kirby series. As his name implies, he is a Waddle Dee wearing a blue bandana on his head. His weapon of choice is usually a spear , but in some games, such as Kirby Battle Royale , he wields a parasol instead. Originally shown to be King Dedede 's most loyal subject, later games portray him as Kirby 's closest friend, and he sometimes even assists Kirby in battling the king. After this, he appeared as one of the four playable protagonists of Kirby's Return to Dream Land , and has starred in nearly every game in the Kirby series since.
