The main villain of Endless Winter, the Frost King, is an ancient being who faces off against the Justice League , and he was previously defeated by a league of heroes that included the Viking Prince, Black Adam , the Amazon Queen Hippolyta , and an earlier incarnation of the Swamp Thing. Having no memories of his identity, the young warrior adopts the name of Jon, the Viking Prince. This origin story contained narrative seeds that would grow throughout the series. Jon continues to live with the fishermen who saved him, training them to fight alongside him, while Thorvald is a recurring villain. Jon also fights sea serpents, prehistoric monsters, and giant beasts, infusing fantasy elements into the historical setting.
