Greek life is relatively new to most incoming first-year students at the University of Florida.
I am a incoming freshman and I intend to rush a frat at the University of Florida. The best fraternity is one that matches your goals, needs, and ethics and at which you feel most welcome. Potential protege? Thanks -Read up on the rush process linked to the IFC page at: www. It will help you avoid common mistakes.

I know very little about the frats at UF with regard to their respective reputations and whatnot. Some of my friends in my one semester at American University were Pikes but I never felt compelled to rush right away since I thought I would be there throughout my entire undergrad experience. So naturally, I decided I was going to rush Pike at UF, only to learn they were suspended until ! Any info would be helpful people. They have a monopoly over all the rest of the fraternities. Pi Kapp is good if your from Miami, S. The ones not from Miami, are from S. Might get only a few guys from Jax and Tampa. A breath of fresh air would be cool. SigEp and Sigma Chi are good too! Check them out in the fall and let us know what you think. Looks like the basketball team is fresh, but good things are coming.
If you don't already have connections in the chapter, good luck. Sorry to intrude. Yeah, you guys are huge here and I'm not saying that its bad for everyone, I just don't want to be in a fraternity that big.

These two columns represent the number of new members joining the chapter during that semester and the total number of members number members plus already active members. This information relates to the average GPA for that semester. If no information is listed, then grades have not yet been calculated for that semester. However, as soon as grades are available, the scorecard will be updated with that information. For previous, or more complete, chapter GPA information, please review past semester Greek grade reports here. Inspections are conducted at least once per year, if not each semester. Upon completion of an inspection, the inspector tabulates the total number of points assigned to a house and determines whether they passed Level 1 or Level 2 or failed Level 3 the inspection.

Greek life is relatively new to most incoming first-year students at the University of Florida. For many students, this rush to jump into Greek life at UF is a source of anxiety for trying to find their way through college. Yes, fraternities are very popular at the University of Florida. There are nearly three dozen fraternity chapters at UF, including traditional Greek organizations and multicultural chapters for students of specific racial, ethnic, and social groups. Multicultural fraternities make up nearly one-third of all chapters at UF, making them well-represented on campus and in the UF Greek scene. There are more fraternities at the University of Florida than there are sororities, although fraternity chapters tend to have fewer members than the typical sorority. While primarily social, fraternities at the University of Florida offer their members academic and personal growth opportunities. The fraternity councils advertise how Greek students have higher grade point averages than non-Greeks at UF. As part of their recruitment efforts, the fraternities point to the leadership opportunities, philanthropic efforts, and brotherhood within the larger UF campus that Greek life offers potential fraternity members.

I feel GreekChat in general gets very upset by the notion of tiers when it's a reality at every campus. Who did you pick to pledge? How do you like the feel of the town so far? Within the next 30 years I think there will be a re alignment with the campus expansion. As a PNM you hope that you'll get a bid from a group that you like, but you don't have much control over it other than screwing it up. Some do community service; some don't. They're not in Heritage Grove, right? Some of the top houses, like Sigma Chi, pretty much ignore everything but social. Kuddos to you all for handling it well. I attended UF ages ago, but it seems like yesterday! All the top fraternities are paired with the top sororities. I'm guessing that Heritage Grove must be similar to our Sorority Row, where it's just off campus, but there's no reason to go by there unless you live there. SECdomination, I found your list interesting.

That's one of the funniest things I've read. Not all fraternity members live in their chapter houses, especially in their junior and senior years. White bro! Some of the top houses, like Sigma Chi, pretty much ignore everything but social. I know that here we only have a total of about 5 hours during official rush to decide which houses you want to attempt to get a bid from. In A big earthquake happened on the coast of canada, a large landmass broke off of it and floated down south thanks to currents in the Atlantic Ocean. It depends on the culture of the campus. Also, do the fraternities at FSU have seperately designed houses? My guess is that "southern" is a word used by those of us in the south to define a specific culture within fraternity life. So naturally, I decided I was going to rush Pike at UF, only to learn they were suspended until ! Sorry, I am new to greekchat and I am having a hard time figuring out how to correctly post someone else's comment in my reply. While its nice to have your own 24 building apartmen complex, it sucks to only have feet of common space thats separated from the house. Is there any link looked at the UF site and national where I can learn more? They usually leave Sig Ep out of the loop as far as i'm aware, they got a decent amount of guys from across the mason dixie and thats looked down upon here by most fraternities. However, I am going to be cliche and recommend for any potential new member to go where they feel comfortable, not what house is popular.
