He is an overwhelming narcissist, with little concern for the well-being of his contestants — and even sometimes best friend Chef Hatchet as well. Chris feeds off the pain of the teenagers, physical and emotional and strives to keep the drama in Total Drama alive at all times. He is a very selfish and arrogant man as he does not care about anyone or anything but money, higher ratings, and personal pleasure gained from the pain and suffering of others.

After the failure of his last show, Chris managed to land another hosting job for a new show titled Total Drama Island. For most of the show, he sits in the background, often just introducing them and hosting the elimination ceremonies rather than getting involved in the challenges. He tends to make small comments, specifically if he feels something is morally wrong. He tends to grow to dislike Heather's cold nature, making comments on how it's wrong when she was safe in elimination against Justin. He also seems to care about the safety of the contestants, rushing to warn Gwen when the killer was about to attack her. Chris's personal dislike of Heather comes to light when he allows Gwen and Owen to team up against her in the penultimate challenge, and eventually he eliminates her on a technicality. During the finale, he allows the eliminated contestants to help the finalist they're rooting for.

He proves to be considerably nicer towards contestants he likes—yet still cruel towards them—and has been shown to find some of the more villainous contestants' actions intolerable. While the cast is competing, Chris tries to get back on Chef's good side, though he does it in an awkward way that shocks Chef. Chris spends most of the episode at a safe distance from the cast, as most of their challenges involve explosives. He then blows up the entrance, forcing them into the cave. Chris gets thrown into the lake in the Total Drama Island finale. Chris does have some later moments when he seemingly shows kindness, like when he hugged Harold after Duncan called him "Doris" although he showed some annoyance when doing so. Chris then send her off via the new elimination method, the Flush of Shame. During the musical number , Chris tells the contestants they have to sing in each episode to avoid automatic elimination, as it is part of the season three rules, however this rule is rarely adhered to as several contestants don't sing in songs they were allegedly required for.
