Our mission at This is Knit is to supply enthusiastic knitters and crocheters with excellent quality materials for their projects. Our focus is on natural fibre yarns, enticing textures and glorious colours! Our experienced and enthusiastic team love to inspire others with their own projects, many of which are on display in the shop. We strive to provide a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere at This is Knit, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced fibre crafter. We also regularly share Tips and Tricks through our "Live" check-ins on Instagram. What or who influences your work? I'm constantly influenced by our customers and our team. They are always inspiring me to try new things and I really wish I had more time in the day! Thankfully I get to live vicariously through their amazing projects and their endless creativity. We're a women-led and family-run small business, located in the centre of Dublin City in the beautiful surrounds of the Powerscourt Townhouse. We've been on this magical fibre-filled adventure since Jacqui and Lisa set up their first market stall back in June Back then This is Knit was simply a mother-and-daughter team, with high hopes of discovering other natural-fibre-knitting enthusiasts "out there" on the island of Ireland. Luckily for us there were quite a few of those enthusiasts to be found, and with their support the business grew from that first market stall, to a small shop in the suburbs, to a teeny city centre premises, and finally to This is Knit's current home. We've hosted world-famous knitwear designer workshops, book launches, and yarn tastings, and thrown quite a few great parties too if we do say so ourselves! In Jenny joined the wider team, and This is Knit became a mother and daughters business. Initially covering just a handful of shifts on the shop floor, it wasn't long before Jenny became equally captivated by all the textures, colours, and sheer possibilities of that crazy little thing we all love so much: yarn! She was so captivated in fact, that in she began experimenting with dyeing yarn in her own kitchen.
