Expect lots of talk of boyfriends and girlfriends, flirting, dating, and kissing…. Emotions and interpersonal relationships are explored honestly. Bonds between family and longtime friends are strong.

I read this book after my year-old daughter did, and I expected it to be another basic book but was actually blown away by the characters and storyline. I would recommend this to anyone over the age of 10, especially younger girls! There is nothing inappropriate in this novel, however, there are a few scenes that depict drinking and smoking but nothing over-the-top.

My only comment about the first one is that there is some drinking and weed stuff, so just be sure your kid knows what those things are before reading the book. Teens chicken-fight in the pool, which is a game in which two people ride on the shoulders of two other people and try to push each other off into the water.

Gives formative teens an unhealthy view of sex and romance. Far too much emphasis on romance and includes long make out scenes, including girl straddling guy and removing her shirt on first date. Parents getting high and engaging in casual intimate relationships, including spontaneous car sex. Teens drinking a lot as well.

As a big sister to a little sister going to middle school, I do not understand how these other teenagers are saying 12 and up.
