The Magician is a independent Australian film that centers around the life of Ray Shoesmith Scott Ryan , a hitman who works for a Melbourne underworld figure. The film is written, directed and produced by Scott Ryan, who also stars as the lead actor. The movie opens with Ray on a job, taking out a low-level criminal. It becomes clear that Ray is a skilled professional, cold and calculated in his approach to his line of work.

It's in these darker scenes that I find the comic moments work the best, when the film maker and hit-man are chatting about some stupidly funny topic and then he turns to kill someone.
