I am not kidding when I say this movie was very hard to find, I spent days trying to find this movie on online streaming platforms but then it turned out, it was available on YouTube for free all along and I felt like such a fool. Anyways, The Horde is a French zombie-action movie with a huge emphasis on the word ACTION, because that's all you will get from this movie - intense adrenaline filled action sequences. It looks like 28 Days Later in French, at least as far as the species of zombie and film style goes. These living dead have wheels, and the action sequences are so full of cuts they almost fall apart. The exteriors were even shot on location in Clichy-sous-Bois, where the French riots got started. The colonies are also fighting back. We also have gangsters from Abuja, capital of Nigeria, an identity Adewale seems quite passionate about. How they all manage to get along so well is hard to reckon. I rate this one very high in the zombie canon, I think mainly because it actually has some interesting characters that we care about. The relationship between the two Nigerian brothers is particularly strong. As I understand it and watching the extended funeral scene, included as a special feature on the DVD helps a bit in this regard , Aurore was fucking Rivoallan, who is the dead guy we see at the beginning and whose funeral the credits play over. She is pregnant with his child. She seems very upset when Franck is killed, but I take it that at the end she is avenging the murder of Rivoallan, not Franck. Why she has such a hate on for Ouessem I could never figure out. He is repeatedly denigrated as a wimp, despite behaving in a responsible if not overly heroic way throughout.

In Paris, Oussem heads a police unit in a raid on a criminal base in a condemned apartment building. The operation goes wrong and ends in a shootout with one of the officers wounded. While the gang holds them at gunpoint, they are attacked by a frenzied man who devours the flesh of the living. They become aware that the city outside the building has been overrun by a zombie horde. Oussem proposes a deal to the gang leader Adewale — that the two groups put their differences aside for the sake of mutual survival and making an escape to freedom. Agreeing, the group makes their way down the various levels, which places them into the midst of a ferocious pitched battle against the zombies. The Horde was a French variation on the numerous zombie films that came out following the successes of 28 Days Later , Dawn of the Dead and Shaun of the Dead
Sign In. The Horde Hide Spoilers. The French film "La Horde" doesn't exactly bring a fresh approach to the over saturated zombie genre, yet is still entertaining enough for what it is. It benefits from its breakneck pace and intensity, and is just as much about character as it is bloodshed. Not that it skimps in the gore department at all, though, far from it. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned: first, their quarry, gangster Adewale Eriq Ebouaney , is able to get the drop on them, and start torturing them, then this big mess becomes an even bigger one when scores upon scores of the living dead start to overwhelm humanity, as the apocalypse seems to have begun. While this is all pretty predictable in terms of the script, "La Horde" does manage to entertain by ensuring that its audience never gets bored. It starts quietly enough, but soon it's kicked itself into a high gear and has stayed there. Some zombie cinema lovers may take exception to the fact that these are very FAST zombies, as well as to the generous array of digital rather than practical carnage, but if you don't concern yourself too much with those elements, you may find this a reasonable viewing experience.
