Not blaming the game for this yet , but idk if it's MEANT to be inconsistent or if I'm misunderstanding the mechanics, though they seem straightforward. I've seen someone with a GreatSword use the claw to recover with a special animation when sent flying by an attack, but I have no idea how he did that. I tried to look it up but found nothing relevant, anyone knows anything about this? Not a huge fan tbh, feels a bit cheap. But it's better than wyvern riding in Rise, that's at least at the point of writing this pretty broken. Adding that thing to the game was unnecessary, imo. It breaks the flow of combat.

Once you are successfully grappling the Monster With the Clutch Claw, you can perform a weapon attack. The effect of the attack varies from weapon to weapon. The downside is heavy weapons will not cause the monster to drop slinger ammo. This can be situationally bad as the hunt might continue with the monster losing it's rage status. With no slinger ammo, you will not be able to flinch shot the monster into walls. Meanwhile, lighter weapons like the Bow, Dual Blades, Sword and Shield will always drop a slinger ammo from monsters.
