Although the series over time softens its mercenary approach to romance, it never quite overcomes the impression that these witches are manipulative little creeps.

There were a few deaths I wasn't expecting, but they were well done. Whoever generates the most cash gets to rule the world. It is a secret that threatens Chocolat's life and forces her sugar sugar rune volume 8 return to the Magical World to uncover a truth no one in the kingdom wants to discuss.

While Chocolat had no problem enticing wizard-boys with her forthright personality, human boys seem to be drawn to shy and modest girls like Vanilla. So we can be boyfriend girlfriend!! Tant pis.. I'm still glad that I own the series because it has a special place in my heart, it's just hard to notice things when you read it when you're an adult. I would have liked a short side story to see what else happened, but I'm pretty happy with what I saw.
