One of Sakura's personal retainers, Subaki seeks perfection in all that he does in order to uphold the legacy of his family. If he achieves an S support, he will bear a daughter named Caeldori with his spouse. Subaki is a self-professed perfectionist, a fact that primarily stems from the legacy of his family's traditions, ones that have conditioned him to strive towards achieving perfection in all that he does. As a result of this, Subaki is known to be very demanding and even unforgiving towards himself as he works tirelessly to meet the harsh expectations that he sets for himself. This has in turn caused him to have the tendency to engage in self-reproach whenever he commits "offences" that he feels make him appear weak and imperfect in the eyes of others.

Subaki's Pike reflects its owner's flawless technique and aspiration to be perfect in that its Might is doubled when the user's Skill is higher than their enemy's. When unforged and the enemy's skill is higher then the user's, it functions similarly to an Iron Naginata. Subaki's Pike is the lance version of Hinata's Katana and Izana's Scroll , having the same effect of doubling the user's might. Being the personal weapon of Subaki, the Golden Naginata, besides being a Slaying Lance with more might, also acts akin to Selena's Blade , giving him 3 points to all stats, if the enemy's attack are at least 3 point higher than Subaki's. His parents raised him to be a paragon of strength and skill. Following the footsteps of his ancestors, Subaki is thus instated as one of Princess Sakura's personal retainers. Subaki makes his first appearance in Fort Jinya in Chapter 7 , where he, alongside his fellow retainer Hana , aids Sakura in tending to the wounded soldiers and citizens. After receiving news of a Nohrian invasion that has broken out near Fort Jinya, the two retainers argue over the superiority of their usefulness on the battlefield.
DEF: Subaki has an abnormally high Defense stat for his unit type at base 35, allowing him to tank physical damage easily. Subaki prefers to improve his raw damage output or his ability to perform and avoid follow-up attacks with an Attack or Speed asset respectively. Of the two, Bonfire is superior due to its good damage output in conjunction with its reasonably fast cooldown, but Ignis remains a solid alternative if one wants a harder hitting Special at the cost of a longer cooldown. Mystic Boost is also a great choice, granting him some much needed self sustain by restoring 6 of his HP after every combat, in addition to nullifying Adaptive Damage and Wrathful Staff, reducing the damage he takes from Staff users. Distant Counter is essential to this build, as it grants Subaki the ability to counterattack KO ranged foes, allowing Subaki to serve as a potent Ranged check although vulnerable to Bow users such as Legendary Alm. Quick Riposte is also crucial, as it allows Subaki to perform follow-up attacks through the effects of skills such as Sturdy and Mirror Impact during Enemy Phase, skills that are common in the higher tiers of Aether Raids. Pulse Smoke allows Subaki to disable potentially dangerous Specials by increasing the cooldown of all foes within two spaces by 1, which is especially useful when facing Special Based Defense teams.
