Originally, Tama is a dark furred British Shorthair cat with light-colored eyes, stray cats jojo. He has a stocky body, thick coat, short ears, and a medium-sized tail. There is a large hole in his neck produced after being impaled by the Arrow.

Tama is a blue-grey furred British Shorthair cat with honey-gold eyes whose most defining characteristic is a gaping hole in its throat caused by the Arrow. Stray Cat allowed Tama to resurrect itself into a sentient plant that retains Tama's intellect and personality. It also allowed it to manipulate the surrounding air and form air bubbles to shoot at enemies. Tama is stubborn, sticking to its territory in the cellar when Shinobu Kawajiri attempts to chase it out. After it is killed, it shows a desire for revenge and attacks Shinobu when it sees her in the garden. It is friendly toward Kira until Kira himself deems the newly resurrected Stray Cat a threat. However, it is able to easily forgive Kira, and allies itself with him. Tama is shown to get along well with Okuyasu's father after Kira's death. Tama was once a normal cat that was hit with an Arrow while peacefully lazing about by a tree. It takes refuge in the cellar of the Kawajiri household where it is killed by a broken glass bottle when Shinobu Kawajiri tries to chase it out. Stray Cat is a Stand bound to a plant shown having a thick stem for its body and big leaves that operate like arms. Its leaves are dexterous enough to grab objects. It waits until a potential target is in range, then suddenly catches it. Two petals with a pattern of long, dark spots on them are wrapped into a feline shape for the face. The plant has eyes that can still move around and look at things, but it lost the night vision of a cat.
Brought back to life as a plant after its Stand ability activates, Stray Cat is able to manipulate the air around it and shoot deadly air bubbles. Stray Cat is a Stand bound to a plant which initially has two large, curved petals, a thick stem with two sepals functioning as arms and two lower sepals resembling feet, and aerial roots surrounding the stem. After maturing as a plant, the Stray Cat's petals slightly close, overlapping each other and giving it a rounder head shape akin to when it was a cat.
