Steven universe and rose quartz
I, for one, am an enormous fan of the franchise, the world, the art and the insanely meticulous plots of each story. Inevitably, this article will have massive spoilers due to the nature of these scrupulous episodes, so I advise reading ahead with caution, though I knew all of these spoilers before I watched the series and still steven universe and rose quartz an amazing experience. To properly analyze the representation of tall, strong, chunky TSC women in "Steven Universe," we should first go over the basics of this show.
I thought there would have been many rose quartzes. But now I get the impression that "Rose Quartz" is a single unique being. All the gems recognize her gem immediately, implying that no other rose quartzes existed, otherwise how could they know it was THE rose quartz? I think my confusion is in "That will be all" when Yellow is singing her number in the zoo, there are a number of what appear to be Rose Quartz gems in bubbles. So were they all bubbled immediately once Pink decided to use that as her alias?

Rose Quartz Voiced by: Susan Egan. Click here for her outfit as a Quartz soldier. This world is full of so many possibilities. Each living thing has an entirely unique experience: the sights they see, the sounds they hear, the lives they live are so complicated I can't wait for you to join them. Rose Quartz was the founder and previous leader of the Crystal Gems. She found Amethyst and brought her into the core of the group. About sixteen years before the series began, she met and fell in love with Greg Universe. She became pregnant with Steven, but since the holder of the magic gem can only be one person, Rose, as Greg puts it, "gave up her physical form to bring Steven into the world". Although she could fight as well as any Gem, she was full of love and compassion for every living thing she ever encountered. For her tropes as her former identity, see it here. A-B The Ace : Rose is always described as being exceptional at whatever she did. It's not an image she lives up to , because no one could.
This is shown when it was capable of even poofing her, a Diamond, whose durability is so immense that attacks that'd shatter a normal Gem outright won't even poof them.
We can leave our old lives behind. If this is really my world, I want to give it to the Crystal Gems. I want to live here with human beings! I want to live here with you! We'll both finally be free!
Rose Quartz was the identity assumed by Pink Diamond to further her cause to liberate the Earth from Homeworld Gems and live freely. Often overlooked by her fellow Diamonds, Pink desired to colonize her own planet and lead her own armies on the basis that she was just as important and as capable as them. She frequently played in her Garden with Spinel , who had been created to be her "best friend". Eventually, Pink was given license to colonize the planet Earth and was even given another Pearl to make her feel happier. She then left Spinel behind in her Garden. When Earth's colonization began, Pink Diamond was largely bored and unsatisfied with the process. To make her feel happier, Pearl brought Pink Diamond, disguised as a Quartz, to the Kindergarten to meet the newly formed Gems. As Rose Quartz, Pink Diamond incited the other Gems into openly rebelling against Homeworld, in an effort to ward off Homeworld and save the Earth from being destroyed. Pink Diamond would often switch between being herself and Rose during the events of the rebellion, fighting Homeworld on some occasions, while playing along as a leader on others.

As Garnet explained to him, she didn't always do what she thought was right for her, but right for the Earth. What I would like to talk about is the presentation of tall, strong, chunky women within this show, which can be lacking at times. Veledwin wrote: What's with all this pointless speculation? Many thousands of years later, the remaining Diamonds and her son Steven later reversed the corruption on most of the surviving Gems on Earth using the water of her Fountain in " Change Your Mind. Quirky Curls : Her hair is all styled in curls except for her bangs, and while the hair resembles the trope, her personality also lines up with Regal Ringlets — her calming dignity being tempered by some of the free-spirited joie de vivre that she would later pass on to Steven. However, according to Garnet, after talking they end up achieving a better understanding which is the goal of "fusing". Her fellow Diamonds gave her very little emotional attention at all and apparently ignored what she wanted when she did see them, to the point she genuinely believed they didn't give a darn about her, but also were rather forceful that she needed to act like a proper Diamond and put on a proper appearance for her subjects. She found Amethyst and brought her into the core of the group. She faked her own shattering as Pink Diamond, thinking it would make Homeworld leave Earth alone, and instead got almost every Gem on the planet corrupted as reprisal. Greg later attempted to fuse with Rose, hoping to strengthen their relationship and gain a better understanding of each other.

Rose Quartz was previously the leader of the Crystal Gems before she brought Steven into existence. Her Innocently Insensitive nature and tendency to hide the truth away ended up seriously hurting those close to her such as Greg, Pearl, Bismuth, and Sapphire. She trusted Pearl with the information she didn't tell Garnet and Amethyst. H-I Healing Hands : Rose's tears have immense healing potential, strong enough to even mend a cracked gem. That said, as "We Need to Talk" has proven, she wasn't an expert on humans nor on their relationships, which became a large block in her relationship with Greg. I guess I'd like to know more history. Rose cared deeply for Pearl, who claimed that she was closer to Rose than the other Gems were. For most of the seasons, she is painted as the ultimate leader, hero and general gem. We've only seen Rose seriously angry or disgusted twice: when Yellow and Blue Diamond shut down her attempts to cancel the Earth colony peacefully, making her adopt the Rose persona as a figure of rebellion; and when she told Pearl that they had to fake "Pink Diamond"'s shattering because Blue and Yellow didn't actually care about what she wanted in either persona. It's Steven on the other hand who needs answers and justifications when he discovers his mother killed Pink Diamond. She gained a long, thin neck and a slender face.
