NYLF Explore STEM is a unique learning experience for bright, forward-thinking middle school students—the next generation of innovators, roboticists, engineers, doctors, forensic scientists, mathematicians, and physicists. During this immersive experience, students learn by doing as they take part in hands-on simulations, workshops, and competitions, while making new friends and having unforgettable adventures as they plan for a "Mission to Mars. Few fields are more important to the future of mankind than STEM—science, technology, engineering, and math—and few show as much promise for future career opportunities. NYLF Explore STEM is built on a multidisciplinary curriculum designed to help students find their passion through hands-on activities in forensics, robotics programming, medicine, and civil engineering. NYLF Pathways to STEM is a unique learning experience for bright, forward-thinking elementary school students who will evolve into next generation innovators, engineers, doctors, software developers, and scientists. Students learn by doing during hands-on simulations and workshops. They also have the opportunity to choose the experience that is best suited for them by selecting either the six-day Residential or the five-day Day program. Virtually all career fields today require a solid foundation of STEM. NYLF Pathways to STEM is a fantastic opportunity for curious and high-aspiring young students to make new friends and enjoy unforgettable adventures while exploring the frontiers of 21 st century science and technology. Created by the late wilderness medicine expert Dr. Paul Auerbach and simulation expert Dr. Rebecca Smith-Coggins while professors in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University's School of Medicine, this realistic simulation allows students to learn how to control minor, but serious injuries and practice the proper application of medical splints. Please note: We are currently evaluating all aspects of NYLF Pathways to STEM and may make changes to the curriculum, site visits or program location to ensure the program meets the most up-to-date health and safety standards. Working with an mBot robot, students explore the exciting world of engineering and build a foundation in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer programming. Role-playing as a medical intern, students will examine the circulatory system and the heart, perform a dissection, and diagnose a patient. As future crime solvers and forensic detectives, students will apply math and science-based skills and use fun chemistry concepts to unlock clues in an actual case. Students participate in a week-long challenge that allows them to utilize and expand upon the skills that they learn throughout the day during their STEM Group Meetings and STEM exploration time.
Students who want to learn more about a specific career can do an internship or job shadow, those who want to meet students with similar interests can join a club or volunteer, and those who want to experience college can visit a school they are interested in, stem national youth leadership forum. The program provides these students with the opportunity to build upon their previous Envision experience and further fuel their passion for a future career in STEM. At NYLF Explore STEM Alumni, students learn by doing as they take part in a challenging hands-on simulation, three unique and exclusive immersion experiences, and Maker Centers that allow them to prototype their ideas and showcase their creativity. This guide will explain what NYLF is, what its benefits and drawbacks are, and how you can decide whether or not you should participate in it. The National Youth Leadership Forum is a group of summer programs designed to introduce select high school students to different careers and help prepare them for college and future jobs. During NYLF, students either live in college dorms at different campuses across the country, or they stay at hotel in Washington DC, depending on the program. Students attend lectures and events and may also take field trips. NYLF markets their programs as a way to give students the knowledge and experience they need to succeed in college and their future careers.

In short, the National Student Leadership Forum can provide useful and interesting opportunities for high school students, but it is not better or more impressive than other extracurriculars. Most NYLF conferences take place on college campuses, with students housed in college dorms.
All NYLF Pathways to STEM students will have the chance to fuel their creativity and academic success with practical achievements that will help them stand out in their school and community.
Makerspace Challenge Students participate in a challenge that will allow them to broaden their understanding of STEM applications, show off their creativity, and enjoy a little friendly competition. Please note: We are currently evaluating all aspects of NYLF Pathways to STEM Alumni and may make changes to the curriculum, site visits, or program location to ensure the program meets the most up-to-date health and safety standards. They also have the opportunity to choose the experience that is best suited for them by selecting either the six-day Residential or the five-day Day program.
