Luckily for fans, the game's developers are still working on updates and expansions that allow for multiple playstyles to have a viable chance of winning. Known as 3. However, the cost of Ascension increases with each planet, their tier level and overall Sprawl of an Empire. To drive how important Unity will become in future sessions, changes are also being made at the grassroots of an Empire. The ruler stratum job for pops known as "Administrator" is being renamed "Politician," and it will produce amenities for the planet as well as Unity. Civics like Technocracies and Merchant Guilds have been modified to no longer grant incidental Unity bonuses. However, Technocracy will now grant an additional research option as well as research expertise bonuses for scientists. While not related to the goal of reworking Unity, a new Civic and accompanying Trait have been added as quality of life improvements that offer unique role-play opportunities. Designation represents the production focus on a world and provides a bonus favoring a certain production focus. It is by default determined by the most common type of Districts or Buildings constructed but can be chosen manually at any point. Capitals have their own unique designation which cannot be changed.
