The handle swivels, but the cleaning head only goes back and forth, not side to side, unlike several other steamers in our lineup.

The kitchen is ceramic tile flooring with grout and it seems constantly in need of sweeping and wiping down as they make a sport of spilling food and drink all over it at every meal.
