Status aims to make a statement here, both sonically and stylistically — and the good news is there's much to like on both counts.
What they may lack in sound quality they do sound great is more than made up by their convenience. I like them so much, that I talked a friend into buying them. He complained that they hurt his ears. There are many great alternatives available for those with different tastes and priorities. These little wonders sound fantastic and are extremely comfortable in my ears. But can they replace my beloved AirPods Pro earphones? Excellent sound supplemented by strong noise-cancelling and wireless performance, the Status Between 3ANC put in a good shift to upset some of the big names in the market. There are areas where they fall short of other premium brands, but overall, these true wireless are worth a shot. Status Audio is relatively new to the game, riding the wave in the explosion in personal listening over the last decade; producing in their own words, purpose built, simple audio products, made with every listener in mind. The finish could benefit from more finesse — the silver cover was peeling off on the first sample I was sent — but I like the look Status is going for with the Bone white and Onyx black colourways. An IPX5 rating to ward off sweat, rain, and water provides the incentive to use the Status buds for exercise. Touch controls cover playback, calls, and volume, and are sensitive enough to prods and presses. The case is compact, slipping into a pocket with little fuss, and retrieving the buds from the cradle is easy thanks to their shape. Included are silicone fit wings small to large and silicone eartips also small to large. This a very good performance, and while with some volume assistance most sounds are batted away, if not completely shrouded, the Between 3ANC fall short of the class leaders. The transparency mode is excellent: bracingly clear, expansive, and natural in tone. Situational awareness is great with these headphones.

As always, I am here to talk about my honest experience with the product. Status Audio was established in the vibrant heart of Brooklyn, NY, in Founded by James Bertuzzi, the company has carved out a niche in the crowded audio space with a philosophy that cuts through the noise: simplicity paired with high-quality craftsmanship. Today, we have their frontrunner, the Between 3ANC. Between 3ANC , the latest TWS earphones from Status Audio prioritize what matters most regarding portable audio: clear sound and active noise cancellation. With practical additions like wireless charging and a companion app to tailor your experience, the Between 3ANC is built to fit your daily life. Between 3ANC comes in a very stylish and compact box.
The Status Between 3ANC True Wireless are premium buds from this manufacturer's small lineup and have a triple driver design; they're one part dynamic driver and two part balanced armature, which helps improve their sound quality. Unlike the Status Between Pro True Wireless , which are more simple in design, they have a noise cancelling ANC system to help cut down sounds when you're on the go, support multi-device pairing, and have a companion app so that you can customize their sound to suit your tastes. Unfortunately, they lack aptX codec support for higher audio quality compared to the default SBC codec, and their design is quite bulky. Out of the box, they have an excited sound that delivers extra bass to music while vocals and instruments sparkle, thanks to added treble. If you don't like their sound, their companion app offers an 8-band graphic EQ and presets to help you customize them. They're still closed-back, in-ear headphones, and their soundstage doesn't seem natural or immersive. These buds are well-built and have a decently comfortable fit, although they can feel fatiguing over time due to their design. They last nearly eight hours continuously, and there are charges in the case if you need to top them off.

The low to mid-treble is slightly overemphasized, too, making vocals and instruments sound harsh while sibilants like cymbals are bright. Also, you get multipoint to three devices, which is more helpful than it sounds, and for us, the sound just edges it over the Sony proposition listed below — as you can read about in our full Technics EAH-AZ80 review. Not the last word in noise cancellation, but the sound is oh-so Sony — and that means it's very good indeed. On the right bud: Single tap: Plays and pauses audio. The bass is prominent on these headphones — if you like your bass big then the Between 3ANC deliver on that promise. They are well made, with an IPX5 rating, and an excellent equalizer. The response is fairly even, although a bit of overemphasis is coming from the bass range into the low-mid, which clutters the mix a bit. Multipoint is supported for connection to two devices at once. Also answers and ends calls. To ensure this is possible, every member of the editorial staff follows a clear code of conduct.
