Do kitnipbox ever want to be such a huge nerd that you could just stab your enemies with sheer big brain energy? Well Soulknife is at least half of soulknife build 5e fantasy because for some reason you still use Dexterity to swing your Psychic damage brain blades.
They're adept at picking locks, picking pockets, and sneaking around with their impressive stealth skills. What if we told you that they can add their brains to their bags of tricks? Soulknife rogues can conjure blades made out of psychic energy. They can also communicate telepathically with the rest of their party members, read minds, and stun their foes. Later abilities even allow them to teleport. If the dice aren't working in their favor, they can use their Psionic Power to change the outcome in their favor.

I have this idea of playing a very stealthy, very mobile character who has several tricks up her unarmored sleeves. I wanted to start out as a Rogue for the sweet extra proficiencies not to mention the relevant Racial proficiencies too and starting with the Sneak Attack damage wielding a normal Rapier or maybe Shortsword. We get some overlapping of features going back to Rogue levels , and lots of different options for bonus actions movement and attacks at this point. At Level 3 of Rogue, I want to take Soulknife but I feel like the Psychic Blades are just about wasted as I can make my rapier a monk weapon with the optional class feature from Tasha's, I think and still get Sneak Attack damage, and still follow it up with Flurry of Blows or just a regular 2nd Unarmed attack from the Martial Arts feature. But I think that the Psi-Bolstered Knack adding a Psionic die roll to a failed skill check that is ONLY used up if it succeeds and the Psionic Whispers telepathic communication within a mile for at least 1 hour are good enough that it doesn't matter if I have the Psychic Blades or not. I do like the idea of Psychic Blades and sneaking into a fort or castle or dungeon or whatever seemingly without any weapons or armor only to have the blades manifest themselves right at the point of attack and then leaving no visible wounds, that is just too cool. Movement also ends up being insane with this build. Feline Agility let's my character double their speed on one turn during combat, and it recharges when she moves 0ft on any following turn. So at character level 3 Rogue 1, Monk 2 my gal can move 80ft during combat and still have an action and bonus action on deck.

A discipline formed by a carefully honed mind, psionics are definitely a supernatural power, but vastly different from more common magical practice of an arcane or divine nature. While other magical practitioners draw their abilities from the elements and universe around them or the deities they follow, Psionics come directly from within the practitioner's own mind. A Rogue applying these practices to their profession doesn't have to rely on thieves' tools or simple weapons to get the job done. Instead, they use their mind to manipulate forces around them, listen in on others' thoughts or communicate telepathically. They can even manifest psychic blades in combat that grant them special abilities like teleportation. When it comes to building a Rogue, regardless of their chosen Roguish Archetype , Dexterity will always be their most important core stat. Not only does it influence things like their armor class, weapons damage modifier and initiative, but it bolsters their most important skills.

Here we can finally switch to our Psychic weapons and gain access to our Psionic power dice. What we have on top of all the goodness that is Rogue is a reliable pool of bonus dice that can be used to add to rolls and change outcomes to our advantage, from skill checks to attack rolls, as well as spending the dice on unique utility powers.
