Developed by indie developer SFB Games Limited, Snipperclips is a puzzle game designed for cooperative play, but also allows for solo gameplay as well as competitive modes. Releasing as a Nintendo Switch launch title, Snipperclips also takes advantage of the detachable Joy-Cons for use as separate controllers, allowing for multiplayer out of the box without the need to purchase additional controllers. The core gameplay of Snipperclips involves the player s taking on the role of Snip and Clip, who must cut each other into various shapes, and maneuver accordingly in order to solve the various puzzles. This core mechanic of cutting the other player character s occurs with a push of a button when Snip and Clip overlap. In addition to cutting, players can rotate Snip and Clip, jump, crouch, and climb over one another to interact with the environment around them. While you can still play Snipperclips solo, it still involves both Snip and Clip, and you simply switch between the two characters to solve puzzles. As expected, playing solo does work, but feels a bit clunky while switching between characters and is generally not as fun as it is with others. Snipperclips truly shines when playing with 2 or more players. The game is comprised of three modes: World, the initial puzzle solving mode for players; Party, a puzzle solving mode for players; and Blitz, a competitive mode featuring hockey, basketball, and dojo a fighting styled mode for players. The puzzle modes feature some interesting challenges for all skill levels, requiring problem-solving skills, communication, and cooperation.

Video games, in my mind, have always been about the adventure or competition or relaxation. Working through puzzles never seemed like something I'd want to do to wind down at the end of the day. As it turns out, I was wrong about that — I just needed a game like Snipperclips to show me the light. Snipperclips: Cut it Out Together! More specifically, I needed a puzzle game where I wasn't trying to solve the puzzles on my own. Though you can play Snipperclips as a single-player game, the game's unique approach to puzzle solving means that it's an absolute blast when you get multiple people playing. For the uninitiated, Snipperclips puts you in control of two little tabs of paper — Snip and Clip. Your goal is to solve challenges by trimming Snip and Clip into a variety of different shapes. Snip and Clip can both move around the play area — ducking, rotating, and even standing on top of one another to solve puzzles.

Still, I very much enjoyed Snipperclips, and I would check out an improved sequel should there ever be one. With the story being non-existent, Snipperclips feels more like an iPhone game than a approx. Understandable, but having a simple story would be a major improvement. The original offered excellent value - considering how tough some of the puzzles were - to keep players busy, and for an extra ten bucks you get more of the good stuff. I feel that the game should have had more difficult puzzles, as there was only one puzzle that I legitimately got stuck on for about 20 minutes before figuring out the solution. The game can be played with from up to players, I'd recommend to at least have a friend to play with it is a ton of fun. Snipperclips Nintendo Mar 3,
