In August, my friend N rented a house in Gibsons. We arrived on a sunny Friday to acres of private waterfront property, a six-bedroom house with spacious entertainment areas and a hot tub looking out into the ocean. N and her entourage brought groceries with the intent of cooking, but everyone was too preoccupied with partying to actually prepare any meals. By Sunday morning, L and I wanted to get out and explore the town. N drove L and I into the waterfront shopping district. The three of us walked into Beachcomber Coffee Company and enjoyed expertly made americanos. We strolled around the main shopping streets and enjoyed a live music performance.

The best time to call in late Sunday evening or early Monday to get a table that coming weekend. We do not takes groups larger than 12 people. Groups of will be seated on the patio. Pairs will be placed at the best seats in the house - the oyster bar! We will not hold your table. If you cannot make a reservation, all is not lost! No dogs on, or across from, the patio. It is a narrow public walkway and we have had too many issues over the years.

Although the crab cakes were filled with mostly crab with little filler, they were quite dense. Even the breading was dense and heavy. I did like the flavour though as it was full of crab essence and sweetness. As for the scallops, they were good with a nice sear while still being tender. They were well-seasoned and the pea puree was a nice compliment.
