Skyrim the forgotten vale
The Forgotten Vale is a hidden region of Skyrim that is inhabited by Falmer. However, it once was a holy place to their predecessors, the Snow Elvesand houses a temple to the goddess Auri-El. It also contains a massive frozen-over lake and waterfall, where dragons are known to lurk, even underwater. It contains variants of almost any species known in Skyrimincluding the otherwise unseen Frost Giants, skyrim the forgotten vale.
It is a large glacial valley hidden deep within the mountains on the northwestern Skyrim peaks of Haafingar and the Western Reach of High Rock. The valley features its own unique flora and fauna and a handful of caves and subsections throughout. The area also contains a large concentration of Falmer , who have built a series of walkways and camps throughout a canyon leading to the Inner Sanctum , one of the last Snow Elf bastions left. The valley is surrounded by vast, unscalable mountains making it completely isolated from the rest of Skyrim and a part of High Rock. It is split into two large areas which are separated by a narrow canyon. On the southwest side, it contains a waterfall that sits below a vast frozen lake. The other side, to the northeast, is a snowy forest environment dotted with exotic flora and fauna.

It is initially only accessible after traversing both Darkfall Cave and Darkfall Passage. It is now inhabited by the brutish, corrupted Falmer and a variety of indigenous creatures: Vale deer , Vale sabre cats , frost trolls , and frost giants. You will visit it during the course of the Dawnguard add-on's main questline, either as a Vampire Lord or as a member of the Dawnguard. The temple built by the Snow Elves in honor of Auri-El is found here. In front of the Inner Sanctum , there is a frozen lake with a word wall in the middle for the Drain Vitality dragon shout , which is guarded by the twin dragons Naaslaarum and Voslaarum. There are several other areas that can only be reached from within the vale. These areas can be accessed either directly or via the paragon platform , and include: Darkfall Grotto , Forgotten Vale Cave , Forgotten Vale Forest , Forgotten Vale Overlook , the Glacial Crevice , the Inner Sanctum holding Auriel's Chapel which is displayed as "Temple Balcony" at the wayshrine portals, once the final wayshrine found there is raised at the end of the related quest , and Sharpslope Cave. Darkfall Passage may also be accessed directly from the vale. From Darkfall Passage, you are transported via the portal in the Wayshrine of Illumination to a cave area with a path winding away and up to the surface. There are six gleamblossom plants in the cave area. You emerge high in the mountains overlooking the vale. There are many gleamblossom plants found throughout the first area of the vale and many torchbugs flying around at night. Off to the west, up an incline you will encounter a frost troll in its lair, which contains the bodies of a dead Vale deer and Vale sabre cat.
On the north wall of the path near the second Falmer is a leather pouch behind some fencing holding a piece of silver ore and two pieces of quicksilver orewith another piece of quicksilver ore on the ground beside it, skyrim the forgotten vale. Crossing back to the eastern riverbank fansly heading south a few paces to another snowberry bush, another malachite ore vein is to the northeast.
The Forgotten Vale is massive and sprawling secluded ice-encrusted land dotted with the remains of Snow Elf architecture. Its seclusion from the rest of Tamriel has resulted in unique forms of bioluminescent flora and fauna, seemingly adapted for subterranean dwelling. The vale is difficult to reach, requiring the navigation through the Darkfall Cave systems to enter from the outside world. The elves built a large sanctum into the mountains, overlooking the valley, as well as five Wayshrines of Auri-El. Magical teleportation in the form of portals were used to navigate and link the area. In order to reach enlightenment and "become one with Auri-El", [1] initiates of the Chantry made a pilgrimage to each of the five Wayshrines, navigating the treacherous vale with a ewer of water to gain access to the temple's inner sanctum. Due to the Chantry's isolation, it remained unaffected by the invasion of the Nords , though the Falmer somehow spread to the vale and overwhelmed the Chantry by their sheer numbers, wiping out the final bastion of Snow Elves.

Shortly after entering the vale the Dragonborn will stumble upon a small cave, just north of the main path. In the cave a Rope Release opens up a hidden passage to the a Shellbug that can be mined for Shellbug Chitin.

Can you open the gate to chest in Arkngthamz? Some argue that the rebuke they endured upon their return was crueler than any punishment that may have lay ahead of them along the path. A second, upper entrance to the cave places you closer to the rare shellbug inside; see the next paragraph for details. Darkfall Passage may also be accessed directly from the vale. Throughout the Vale there are many "hidden" treasures and other not so obvious points of interest, so it is recommended to search throughout the place carefully for maximum loot and satisfaction. Darkfall Grotto. As the path starts to climb, ahead are three frostbite spiders. Partway up the stairs, once you are level with the top of the large waterfall, head northeast. The tent contains a Falmer chest, with leather pouches holding six loose Falmer arrows and a random empty soul gem on either side. The walkway then passes between the side of a tent and a tall rock, with a string of bone chimes hanging down, and continues past another junction with a branch to the left all the way to a rock wall at the back before turning left and continuing through a gap between two walls to another area. The paragons are all carried by frost giants, as noted on the map below. The ruby paragon opens a portal to Forgotten Vale Forest. The pass descends into the next valley, where you can see a large waterfall to the west and a wide river ahead. The dragon Naaslaarum. What is this?
