The dragons then appointed Vahlok as ruler of the island, but not before he was compelled to swear an oath of vigilance to watch for Miraak's return, earning him the title "The Jailor. In 2E , Miraak, under the appellation of the First Servant, convinced a Cipher of the Eye , Sabinius , to perform small favors such as retrieving books no one would miss in exchange for gold and help with his own ambitions. This continued until Sabinius was convinced to sabotage the scriptorium of Quires Wind , corrupting both mortals and Daedra within using corrupted scrolls. The corruption was soon ended by the Vestige after they collected both the corrrupted and blank scrolls and found Sabinius dead.
