Saiken more commonly known as the Six-Tails is one of the nine tailed beasts. It was last sealed within Utakata of Kirigakure.

Naruto tells the story of a young orphaned ninja who wishes to become the Leaf Village's Hokage. He initially wants the position because he wants the villagers to acknowledge him, which is fair since most of the villagers have shunned him for being the vessel of the Nine-Tailed Fox. This fox is one of the tailed beasts created by the legendary Sage of Six Paths. These tailed beasts are all titanic in size, and they are basically large chunks of living chakra. Humans have captured these tailed beasts and used them as weapons of war, but they are all intelligent sentient creatures with their own emotions. Every single tailed beast is unimaginably powerful, and they all have their own unique appearance, but some designs are better than others. There are several harsh realities associated with being a jinchuriki , including the fact that they will be hunted by their own village if they ever flee.

In the anime, Saiken also seemed to be kinder and not as self-serving and malicious as most other tailed beasts, as when Utakata asked for its help to save Hotaru it seemed to willingly comply; and later it simply receded back into Utakata without trying to take him over. In the anime, it speaks with a high pitched voice and appears to be very energetic.

Frustrated at his student, Harusame angrily said that Utakata's job was to track and locate the scroll; not return it. Harusame would go on to say Utakata's life was precious, mentioning that a ninja should not run away from conflict nor should he involve himself in a battle that was unnecessary. Nonetheless, he was grateful for his student to be safe and alive.
