According to Goodyear Police Officer Duane King, it started when a woman called after she said a man waved a gun at her while reportedly panhandling near a Dairy Queen on McDowell Road a few blocks west of Dysart Road. When officers got to the restaurant, he was already gone but they soon caught up to him, and police say Peterson lifted his shirt to show a handgun. He then began walking away from officers. Officers stopped him again near the Circle K on the southeast corner of Dysart and McDowell Roads, where police say he became agitated and defensive.
