However, its students have one more great battle ahead of them: the BLUE, a competition where young chefs seeking world-class fame compete. NOTE: If you don't receive a message right away, please be patient. You could watch the first season of the anime and start from chapter 60 from the manga. Instead of showing what ways he's able to come back, and Soma being able to surpass his limits, he instead just does another "I'll surpass you" moment to somehow end up beating this supposed master of chefs, giving him the side character treatment as a result. What makes Shokugeki no Soma so much more interesting and stand out is the different types of characters that are involved. Having picked it up during the anime adaptions airing season back in I have been faithfully reading Souma for 5 years, and even with it's ups and downs I am glad I was there for the journey even if not from the start. This villain jumps into the story immediately with 0 foreshadowing and felt completely like an asspull, this is furthered with their backstory with Erina as a complete douche to give us a reason not to like them, while this can be argued that it is an understandable backstory, I feel it is a poorly thought out one as it turns into Erina a tragic character and the only reason to sympathise with her is because of her backstory and not her own character. Eventually they undergo a several cooking battles to get rid of the villain and over the course of this battle, they become extremely repetitive. As long as he has these two options all the aggressive winning will not drag him down I am left with one burning question though. Every side character and major plot point just gets dicked for a cliffhanger that leaves everything up to the imagination. It also made me realise that the genre that I like the most is non-action 'battle' and that no matter how hard you try, if you have fallen in love with a series that has actually made you dive in deeper and deeper into this form of media, you will never find a series that can completely satisfy you and fill the void created in your heart due to that particular series. Otherwise, I would have felt as though I wasted my money. But what sets this manga apart from the rest of the manga, simply basing it on the average rating is has all these years, is that it is pretty entertaining. That leaves Hayama, alice, erina, Ryo, Issihiki, kuga and some others i dont remember who will enter the elite 10 and after ishiki's batch graduates the plot will reflect the same kind of wretchedness Saiba faced that drove him to drop out.
